Paul D. Krok, 72, of Cortland, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10:46 p.m. in the intensive care unit at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown.

Paul was born on March 13, 1944 in Napier Field, Alabama the son of the late David G. and Doris L. (Goddard) Krok and was a 1962 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

A Veteran of the United States Navy, Paul served his country abroad and at sea aboard the USS Valley Forge during the Vietnam War.  Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, Paul received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Viet-Nam and the National Defense Service Medal and earned the rank of RD3 E-5 and was discharged on September 1, 1966.

Paul was a hard-working man and a man who loved to work and was a longtime employee of the Packard Electric Company where he worked in Quality control for 38 years retiring in 1999.  He was a Volunteer Firefighter for Weathersfield Fire Department in McKinley Heights and was a member of the Odd Fellows in Hubbard.

Paul was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.

Paul was always busy, doing things for himself and others.  Paul’s final act was to give the gift of life through organ donation.  He enjoyed the outdoors, loved to scuba dive and was always looking for a good adventure.  Paul loved animals and enjoyed raising his St. Bernard.

Most importantly, Paul was a very dedicated and loving husband to his wife Cathy.  He took great care of her and always wanted nothing but the best for her especially in recent years as Cathy became ill.

Paul is survived by his wife of 47 years the former Catherine A. “Cathy” Psznick, whom he married on August 10, 1968; his siblings John (Carol) Krok of Niles, James (Donna) Krok of Warren, Jerry (Gayle) Krok of Niles, Linda (Carmen) Rounds of Howland; a brother-in-law Michael (Patricia) Psznick of Warren; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephew and by two very close and special people in Paul’s life whom he considered family Joseph Mostollar of Niles and Mary Patterson of McDonald.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, where a prayer service will take place at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Services will begin on Thursday, June 2, 2016 with closing prayers to be said at 9:25 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered, with Rev. Msgr. L. Thomas Snyderwine officiating, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.

Burial will follow with full military honors in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
