Patricia A. (Rock) Mindek

Patricia A. Mindek, 83, of Champion, entered into eternal life at 2:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Washington Square Health Center in Warren. 

Patricia was born on March 13, 1932 in Chicago the daughter of the late Paul and Anne (Perhatch) Rock and was baptized at Precious Blood Church.

After relocating to Warren, Patricia and her family were members of St. Mary’s Church where she was married to Albert Mindek on January 28, 1957 and he preceded her in death in 2007.

Before marrying, Patricia worked as a hostess at the Warner Hotel and was a clerk at the Warren Auto Club.  After marrying, Patricia was a devout homemaker and was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren.

She joined the Oblates of St. Benedict at Queen of Heaven Monastery in 1983, was a member of Warren Library Book Discussion Club, taught Eastern Christian Formation at SS. Peter & Paul for 3 years, and was a member of Alanon for 10 years.  Patricia loved to read vivaciously!, do crossword puzzles and crochet afghans galore.  She enjoyed cooking, yard work and spending time with her children and granddaughters Sarah and Rachel.  She was an animal lover, who petted stray animals and never was bitten or clawed.

She will be missed by a son Mark Mindek of Bristolville; two granddaughters Sarah and Rachel Mindek and three sisters Kathleen Rock of Youngstown, Elaine Borowksi of Champion and Carolyn Rock of Warren.

Besides her parents and husband Albert, Patricia was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Riggs and two brothers Kenneth and John Rock.

Calling hours will take place TODAY, August 10, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, where a Panachida Service will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church with the V. Rev. Andrew J. Deskevich officiating, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:20 a.m. in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.

Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
