Marlene T. Mrofchak, 81, of Warren, entered into eternal life peacefully, Monday, August 22, 2016 at 7:45 a.m. at the Hospice House in Poland with her husband and son, Marty at her side.

Marlene was born on April 19, 1935 at her home in Glassport, Pennsylvania, the first born of five children of first generation Slovak heritage immigrants, George J. and Mary C. Dubecky Tomko Sr. and moved to Warren as a small child.

A 1953 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Marlene attended Youngstown Comptometer School.  Before and shortly after marrying, Marlene was a bank teller for 3 years at Union Savings and Trust Company and then was a homemaker.

Marlene was a charter and former member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Warren, where she worked in the rectory and was the church secretary for many years.  She was a member the C&M Guild and Altar & Rosary Society of the church.  She was active with the parish school of religion and sang in the choir.  She was a pirohy worker at the church and was a member of the St. Cyril 50+ Club.  Marlene was also a member of the Jednota Branch 422 and was currently a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority (Ohio Theta Masters).

For the past 15 years, Marlene and her husband John, were active members of St. John Paul II Parish on North Street in Warren.  Marlene was a member of the Silver Sneakers, and the SCOPE in Niles.  She enjoyed reading, watching old movies, listening to Jimmy Buffet and the Catholic Station on Sirius Radio, family vacations to the ocean, attending musical and theatrical productions; was a huge supporter of her grandchildren’s events and was a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan.   Most of all, Marlene enjoyed the love and time she spent with her family.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 57 years John J. Mrofchak Sr. whom she married on May 9, 1959 and together they shared the love of three children Michelle (Marty) Cristo of Cincinnati, Martin “Marty” (Kathy) Mrofchak of Warren, and John J. (Keli) Mrofchak Jr. of Columbus; four grandchildren Stephanie (Jason) Kokrak, Adam (Danielle) Mrofchak, Molly Mrofchak and Anna Cristo; and three great grandchildren Allie and Emma Mrofchak and soon to be Baby Kokrak, who is to be born in December.  She is also survived by her siblings Thomas (Sandy) Tomko of San Antonio, TX; Eleanore Maggiano of Charlotte and George (Linda) Tomko Jr. of Howland Township.

Besides her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a grandson Nathan Mrofchak and her sister Rita T. Kurdila.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish, 420 North Street NW, Warren, Ohio 44483.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered with Fr. Christopher Henyk officiating at 11:00 a.m. in the church with burial to follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
