Ernest M. Cvengros, 93, of Warren, entered into eternal life Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11:40 a.m. in the intensive care unit at Mercy Health St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
Ernie was born February 7, 1924 in his home in Warren on the North End the son of the late Edward and Ethel Verbosky Cvengros and was a lifelong area resident
Ernie was a charter member until its closing of the former St. Pius X Catholic Church in Warren, where he was Saturday evening usher and since has been a member of St. John Paul II Parish on North Street in Warren.
A Veteran of the United States Army, Ernie served his country following World War II as a machinist and was honorably discharged on December 22, 1949.
Ernie retired in 1986 after working for over 42 years as a machinist with first McKay Machine and then Wean United.
Mr. Cvengros was an avid Cleveland sports fan especially the Indians. He was also an Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. Most of all, Ernie enjoyed the time that he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his inspiration; following them in all of their endeavors and achievements; they truly were the light of his life.
Ernest was married to the former Marie A. March on May 3, 1954 and they were married for 42 years until her passing on July 7, 1996.
Mr. Cvengros is survived by three sons Gary M. (Shannon) of Howland Township, Ronald D. (fiancée Kathy Gustovich) of Warren and John E. (Connie) of Champion; five grandchildren Anastasia D. (Nicholas) Volsko, Camille M. and Gabrielle L. Cvengros, Jennifer (Nicholas) Stoian and Joseph (Katie) Cvengros; and two great grandsons Brahm Volsko and Mason Stoian.
Besides his parents and wife, Ernest was preceded in death by three sisters Emma Hausknecht, Helen Underwood and Wilma Lanyi; and six brothers Elmer J., Robert, Andrew, Lewis, Edward and William Cvengros.
Calling hours will take place on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral Home, where closing prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 prior in leaving for the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Christopher Henyk officiating, in St. John Paul II Parish in Warren. Burial with full military honors rendered by the great men of the Trumbull County Honor Guard American Legion Post #540 will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
The family would like to thank Dr. Truong and the staff at Warren Medical Group for their outstanding care over the years and the 4th Floor and ICU nurses and staff at Mercy Health St. Joseph Health Center for their compassion and care they gave to Ernie and the family.
