Edward Richard Halavick, Sr., 80, of Vienna, entered into eternal life on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 12:48 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home in Howland with his loving family by his side.
Edward was born on December 15, 1935 in Warren, the son of the late Michael and Cecelia (Suleman) Halavick and was a lifelong area resident attending Southington, Mecca and Leavittsburgh schools.
Edward worked for 34 years at Van Huffel later becoming Sawhill Industries where he worked as a supervisor until his retirement in 1998. After retiring, Edward was able to thoroughly enjoy working in his garden, woodworking and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Edward was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Warren.
A veteran of the United States Army, Edward was drafted on December 10, 1958 during the peace time following the Korean Conflict.
Edward is survived by his wife of 54 years the former Margaret Lee, whom he married on August 24, 1961; two sons Edward R. (Ann) Halavick, Jr. of Shepherdstown, West Virginia and Robert (Maria) Halavick of Vienna; a daughter Peggy (Donald) Woomer of Richmond, Kentucky; six grandchildren Scott Halavick, Stephanie (Joshua) Blackburn, Tyler, Natalie and Ryan Halavick and Skylar Waldeck; a great grandson Scott Halavick, Jr.; and a sister Martha (John) Jesionek of Economy, Pennsylvania.
Besides his parents, Edward was preceded in death by a brother Rudolph “Rudy” Halavick.
Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.
A Celebration of the Resurrection will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Ann Marie Winters, officiating, preceded by a time of final viewing and last respects to be offered at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
As a sign of sympathy and condolence, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Edward’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 East Market Street, Warren, Ohio 44483.
