Bernadine “Bernie” S. Hanuscin, 91, of Sun City Center, Florida and formerly of Warren, entered into eternal life on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 7:35 p.m. in Sun Terrace Nursing Center with her daughter at her side after a battle with breast cancer.
Bernie was born on January 30, 1925 in Campbell, Ohio the daughter of the late Stefan and Susan Hoza Klucar.
Of the Catholic faith, Bernie was a charter member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, now St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Warren, and was a member of its Altar & Rosary Society, C & M Guild and 50 + Club. She was also a member of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union #422, St. Vincent de Paul Society and volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Store for 12 years. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Bernie was married to John G. Hanuscin on January 12, 1946 in SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and they were married for 36 years until his passing on December 12, 1982. Together they shared the love of five children Ronald J. (Nancy) of North Carolina, James B. (Marie) of Howland; Gregory J. (Maria) of Las Vegas Jerome J. (Lynn Pirreca) of Florida and Rosemary (Fred) Savill also of Florida Bernie is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, John, Bernie was preceded in death by a brother Sylvester Klucar and a sister Dorothy Yankle.
Calling hours will take place on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. in the Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 9:30 a.m. Saturday with Fr. Craig A. McHenry officiating in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church. Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Bernie’s name to Hospice of the Valley.
