Anthony Yakus

Anthony Yakus, 85, of Warren, entered into eternal life on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Washington Square Nursing Home in Warren under the comforting care of hospice.

Anthony was born on April 8, 1930 in Warren the son of the late George and Mary (Bodnar) Yakus and was a lifelong area resident.

Anthony retired in 1985 after working for 34 years in the Coal Strip at WCI Steel in Warren.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warren, VFW Post 1090 and the Moose Lodge.  He enjoyed walking, traveling and fishing on Marco Island in Florida.

A veteran of the United States Army, Anthony served his country faithfully and honorably during the Korean Conflict. 

Anthony is survived by his siblings Julia Lawrence of Niles, George (Dorthea) Jakos of Arizona, Mary (George) Baker of Niles and John (Norma) Kresen, Sr. of Champion and by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Besides his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by two sisters Helen Fasulo and Shirley Dean and by a niece Cathy Fasulo and a nephew George Jakos.

A caring cremation will take place under the guidance of the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home with no calling hours or services to be observed.

As a sign of sympathy and condolence the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Anthony’s name to Crossroads Hospice, 8224 Mentor Ave Suite 110, Mentor, Ohio 44060.
