Richard D. Begalla, 77, of Warren, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at 10:53 a.m. in his home.

Richard was born on December 27, 1940 in Warren the son of the late John J. and Rosalia “Rose” Beca Begalla and was a lifelong area resident.

A Warren G. Harding High School graduate, Richard attended a year of college before enlisting into the United States Army on January 18, 1962 and served his country during the Vietnam War.  He was an expert sharpshooter and was awarded a Letter of Appreciation and Good Conduct Medal before being discharged on January 17, 1964.

Richard was employed with Packard Electric for 25 years.  He worked many jobs for Packard and retired in 1994 as a stock clerk.  Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4484; was a past Cub and Scout Master; he was a Y Indian Guide for the all youth program at the YMCA; coached football for SS. Peter & Paul Middle School and coached baseball at Burbank Park.  He enjoyed watching television, reading and working on the computer.

Richard was a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren.

Richard was married on October 16, 1963 to the former Georgia A. Julian and she survives along with three children James (fiancée Lisa Clark) Begalla of Champion; Phillip (Danielle) Begalla of North Ridgeville and Rose Begalla of Cleveland and seven grandchildren Alexa, Michael, Marissa, Gregory, Christian, Barbara Rose and Jason.

Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother John R. “Jack” Begalla.

Memorial Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral Home, 727 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44481.

A Parastas Service with Fr. Simeon B. Sibenik officiating, will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:25 a.m. Wednesday.  Inurnment will follow in Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Richard’s name to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300, Jacksonville, Fl, 32256.
