Mary A. (Litavec) Yuricek, 90, of Warren, peacefully passed away on Monday afternoon, October 22, 2018.
Mary will always be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She always led by example and her kindness, generosity and loving nature was touched by everyone that knew her.
She was born June 14, 1928 in Bardejove, Slovakia, the daughter of Josef and Maria (Dzulikova) Litavec and came to the United States in the 1960’s.
While living in Slovakia Mary was employed at a jewelry store along with being a proud homemaker. Her family will miss all her excellent cooking and baking of all the traditional Slovak dishes.
Mary was a proud and faithful member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Parish- St. Cyril & Methodious Church where she volunteered for over 20 years helping with pierogi sales along with being a member of the church choir. She especially loved to sing Slovak Hymns. She was strong in her faith and adamant about attending mass. Mary also belonged to First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Jednota and Zenska Jednota
Mary had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds, canning, knitting and going to Easter Seal Day Care. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the world, especially returning to Slovakia to visit her family.
Her husband Paul Yuricek Jr. whom she married February 3, 1968 died November 16, 2008.
She leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories her son Paul J. Yuricek of Girard, three brothers Joe and Andy Litavec both of Detroit, Michigan and John (Ada) Litavec of Slovakia, aong with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters Sophie Litavec and Anna Birnko.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral Home 727 E. Market St., Warren.
Funeral Services will begin with closing prayers to be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral Home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, with Father Francis Katrinak officiating.
Burial will take place in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests material contributions may be made in Mary’s name to Humility House Resident Fund, 755 Ohltown Rd., Austintown, Ohio 44515 or Easter Seals, 299 Edwards St., Youngstown, Ohio 44502.
On behalf of Mary’s family, they would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and staff of the Humility House for all the love, care and compassion shown to Mary and them throughout this difficult process.
