Warren – Janet Leigh (Bench) Heeter, 70, of Masury, peacefully passed away Monday, afternoon, March 4, 2019.
She was born November 24, 1948 in Warren, the daughter of John S. and Mary T. (Hildak) Bench and was a lifelong area resident.
Janet was a 1966 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. Besides being a proud homemaker, Janet worked for Packard electric for over 32 years as an inspector and retired in 1999.
She attended SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren and was a member of the IUE Local 1717 Union.
Janet had many passions throughout her life. She enjoyed gambling, playing Bingo, travelling in the United States and abroad and loved to read. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. Janet was a fantastic cook and her family will miss all her wonderful dinners, especially her famous chicken paprikash.
She leaves behind to hold onto her memories a daughter Victoria M. Danko with whom she made her home, her grandchildren Michaela J. Heeter, Makenzie L. Heeter, Blaise A. Taylor, Jaceline M. Danko, Victoria K. Danko, Rihanna J. Whetstone, her greatgrandchildren whom she adored Gabriel J. Danko, Lyric K. Kale and Oaklan J. Bonk and a sister Marion F. Yurtin of Cortland along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents, Janet was preceded in death by a brother John B. Bench, and two sisters Theresa M. DiGiacobbe and Leona E. Lazich.
Family and friends may pay their respects Friday, March 8, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home 727 East Market St., Warren.
There will be a Divine Liturgy Funeral Service held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:30 am SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Warren, with Fr. Simeone B. Sibenik officiating, preceded by a 10:00 am prayer service held at the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, Warren.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta.
In lieu of flowers material contributions may be made in Janet’s name to St. Jude Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
