Bettie L (Clower) Masaitis

Bettie L. Masaitis, 88, of Warren Township, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:30 p.m. in her home. 

Bettie was born on July 12, 1928 in Lakeland, Florida the daughter of the late E.D. and Wilda Firster Clower.

A homemaker, Bettie was a 1945 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.  She was a woman of the Moose Lodge where she held the office of treasurer.  She enjoyed flea marketing, going to garage sales and looking after stray cats in her neighborhood.

Bettie was a member of the former St. Pius X Catholic Church in Warren.  Upon its closing, Bettie was a member of St. John Paul II Parish in Warren.

Bettie was married on November 6, 1948 to Alexander “Alex” T. Masaitis and they were married for 63 years until his passing on August 17, 2011.

She is survived by five children Alan T. of Warren, Michael A. of Como, Mississippi, David A. (Kim) of Middlefield, Annette M. Dye of Newton Falls and Karen L. Dilley of Champion; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Bettie was preceded in death by two sisters Audrey Fournier and Ella Winkle and by a brother Eugene “Buddy” Clower.

Calling hours will take place on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral Home, 727 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44481.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Paul II Parish, 420 North Street NW, Warren, Ohio 44481 with Fr. Larry Frient officiating, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.  Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
