Sister Julia Rohaly, OSB, 98, of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal life on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 10:35 a.m. in Windsor House in Champion following complications of a stroke.

Sister Julia was born on April 25, 1917 in Erie, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late George and Julia (Priloch) Rohaly.

Sister entered religious life with profession of vows as a Benedictine Sister on July 26, 1960 and was a member of the Benedictine Sisters at Queen of Heaven Monastery in Warren.  Sister celebrated her Golden Jubilee on May 8, 2010.

She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren and held membership in the Greek Catholic Union.

For 11 years, Sister was employed as a cook at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland.  Sister had a love for children and the elderly.  Sister took care of the needs of many children at the monastery and also attended to the elderly in their homes helping with house hold duties and cooking.  She did this all with great faith and service to God and others. 

Sister enjoyed shopping, caring for house plants and collecting and giving away recipes.

Sister is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Sister was preceded in death by three brothers Michael, William and John Rohaly and a sister Anna Bules.

A time of visitation will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 180 Belvedere NE, Warren, Ohio 44483, where a Parastas service will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the church.

A Divine Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2015 in the church with Metropolitan William Skurla, Metropolitan Archbishop of Pittsburgh, officiating.  Burial will follow in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

The Benedictine Sisters would like to offer a special thank you to all of the staff at Windsor House in Champion for the compassionate care and kindness they gave to Sister Julia during her stay and for making her final days very peaceful and comforting.

In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made in Sister Julia’s name to the Benedictine Sisters Retirement Fund, 169 Kenmore Ave NE, Warren, Ohio 44483
