Ralph E. Dean, 84, of Lordstown, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, January 29, 2017 at The Ohio State University Wexler Medical Center in Columbus following a period of declining health.

Ralph was born at home in Bristolville on October 11, 1932 the son of the late Francis and Carolyn Caldwell Dean and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1950 graduate of Bristol High School, Ralph was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He served his country faithfully and honorably and would make a career in the United States Military for over 32 years before retiring as First Command Sergeant Major from the Army National Guard on June 16, 1988.

Following his retirement, Ralph enjoyed golfing, roller skating, volunteering for many organizations and attending Kent State Baseball home games to watch his grandson pitch.

Ralph was a member of the USA Roller Skating club, where he held the positions of Certified Meet Director, Judge, Ohio Meet Coordinator and member of the USARS Regional Board.  He was also a distinguished member of the American Legion Post 699 of Leavittsburg, where he held positions of Finance Manager, County Commander and District Commander, member of the VFW Post 6549 of Leavittsburg, where he was past Finance Manager and was a 16 year member of La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevauk (40 & 8).

Ralph was married on November 19, 1955 to the former Patricia Ann Machuzak and they were married for 53 years until her passing on October 16, 2009.

He will be sadly missed by his two daughters Lori A. (Bob) Murray of Dublin and Cheryl A. (Thomas) Hill of Plain City, Ohio; a sister Marilyn Medina of Phoenix, six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by a son Mark Dean and a daughter Debra Fini.

Calling hours will take place on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 5 until 7 p.m. in the Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral Home, 727 E. Market St., Warren, Ohio 44481

A Memorial Service with Fr. Christopher Henyk, pastor of St. John Paul II Parish in Warren, officiating, will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will full military honors provided by the great men of the Trumbull County Honor Guard will follow in Sager Memorial Cemetery in North Bristol.

In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Ralph’s name to 40 & 8 c/o Chuck Jaros, 6601 Nelson Mosier Road, Leavittsburg, Oh 44430.
