Mary Sohayda, 95, of Howland Township, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:15 p.m. in her home under the comforting care of Hospice with her loving family by her side.

Mary was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania on April 18, 1920 the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Tkach) Homlitas and came to Warren as a small child.

During the war, Mary was employed at Packard Electric Company in Warren.  A homemaker, Mary was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren.

Mary enjoyed cooking and gardening.  She was an avid bowler and bowled in a league for many years and was also an Election Poll worker for many years.

Mary was united in marriage on November 10, 1945 to Andy Sohayda and they were married for 63 years until his passing on June 24, 2009.

A loving mother and grandmother, Mary will be sadly missed by a son David A. (Paula Powers) Sohayda of Niles; two daughters Georgia A. (John) Cassidy of Fairfax Station, VA and Sylvia M. (Stephen) Sisko of Howland Township; seven grandchildren Kimberly Cassidy, Shannon Cassidy, Sean Cassidy, Hallie Sisko, Carey (Bubba) Kidwell, Stephen (Bobbie) Sisko and Dr. Stephen Powers and seven great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Andy, Mary was preceded in death by seven siblings, Mike, John, Paul, Andy, Edward, George and Anna Homlitas.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, June 10. 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.

A Panikhida service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with the V. Rev. Andrew J. Deskevich officiating, with committal and burial to follow in Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.

The family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mary’s name to Hospice of the Valley 5000 E. Market St. Suite 19 Warren, Ohio 44484
