John Fedyszak, 87, of Sandusky and formerly of Warren, passed away in the early morning on Monday, September 12, 2016 in Ohio Veteran’s Home in Sandusky following an extended illness.

John was born on September 7, 1929 in Warren, the son of the late Elias and Ann Volchko Fedyszak and was a lifelong area resident.

A veteran of the Korean War, John enlisted in the United States Army on January 12, 1951 in Canton, Ohio.  He served his country abroad in Germany during the Korean War and received the Army Occupational Medal of Germany.  John was discharged on January 6, 1953 with the rank of Corporal.

John retired in 1971 as a draftsman assistant.  He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church and enjoyed sightseeing.

John is survived by a brother Joseph (Patricia) Fedyszak of Brighton, MI; two sisters Sr. Ann Fedyszak, OSBM and Sr. Margaret Fedyszak, OSBM both of Uniontown, PA and by many cousins.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister Mary DeSantis.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.

A Divine Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 with Fr. Simeon B. Sibenik officiating, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.  Burial will follow in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Lordstown.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in John’s name to SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 180 Belvedere NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
