Jean M. Galbreath, 88, of Cortland, passed suddenly, Thursday, January 14, 2016, in the emergency room at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, following cardiac arrest.

Jean was born on June 11, 1927 in Sandy Ridge, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Plevyak) Fetcenko.

Jean worked for 30 years for Warren General Hospital in Warren in the dietary department and retired in 1991 as a menu clerk.  Along with her full time job, Jean was an excellent homemaker and peacemaker of the family.  She was an avid baker of her ethnic foods of pierogi and kolache.  She was also an excellent cook.  Her best trait of all was that of being a grandmother.  She loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the apples of her eye.

Jean was a longtime member of 40 years of the Cortland Conservation Club and enjoyed trips to the casino.

Jean was married to Chester Galbreath on January 20, 1951 and were just shy of celebrating 65 years of marriage.  Together they shared the love of two daughters, Colleen (Greg) Lazzari and Tami (Jeff) Lindsay all of Cortland along with six grandchildren Gregory (Paula) Lazzari, Daniel Lazzari, Jeremy (Megan) Lazzari, Zachary, Dustin and Danielle Lindsay and five great grandchildren Hayden, Clay, Gino, Cole and Max Lazzari.  She was also survived by her sister Jane (Richard) Wilkes of Cortland.

Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Horvath, Ann Armstrong, Albert Plevyak, Josephine Patton, twins Howard and Alfred Plevyak and an infant brother Michael Plevyak.

A Private Parlor service was held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Carter of Believers Church.

Burial took place in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
