Irene Brienz, 86, of Farmdale, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 5:00 a.m. in the rectory of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald under the comforting care of hospice.

Irene was born on July 2, 1929 in Smock, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late John and Mary (Baka) Turjanica and was a graduate of Scienceville High School in Youngstown.

A homemaker, Irene was known for making wedding cakes throughout the Mahoning Valley.  She belonged to the PTA over the years and was a long time member of the Benedictine Sister’s Auxiliary of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.

Irene was a long time member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren.

Irene was united to marriage on November 13, 1948 to the love of her life Edward R. Brienz Sr., and they were married for 66 years until his passing on July 5, 2015.

Irene is survived by four children Lynda (Allen) Grove of Farmdale; Dr. Deborah Brienz of Duncan, British Columbia; Reverend Edward R. Brienz, Jr. of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McDonald and Veronica Barker of Los Angeles; a sister Margaret (William) Zigarevich of Youngstown; a brother Joseph Turjanica of Austintown; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Edward, Irene was preceded in death by brothers John Turjonis and Michael Turjanica and sisters Marie Olinik, Ann VanSuch and Helen Zayacosky.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 618 Ohio Ave, McDonald, OH 44437, where the recitation of the rosary will take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

A Mass of Christian Burial with the V. Rev. Msgr. Robert F. Siffrin officiating and Rev. Fr. Edward R. Brienz, Jr. and Priests of the Diocese concelebrating, will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Lordstown.
