Bernadette “Bernie” Ann Machuzak, 85, of Warren, entered into eternal life with her loving family at her side on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 7:25 a.m. in Gillette Nursing Home under the comforting care of hospice.

Bernie was born on June 7, 1931 in United, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Stephen and Veronica (nee Verbosky) Verbosky and was a lifelong area resident having moved here from United.

A January 1950 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Bernie retired on September 1, 1991 from the Warren City Schools, where she worked as a secretary for 19 years at Warren G. Harding High School.  Following retirement, Bernie enjoyed painting and doing crafts and following her grandsons in all of their sporting events as well as following her granddaughters in all of their activities.  She was a member of Junior Crafts Ladies Guild.

Bernie was a lifelong and active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Warren, where she was avid pirohy worker.  She was also a member of the 300 Club of the church and its 50 + Club.

Bernie was married on August 21, 1954 to her high school sweetheart Daniel A. Machuzak and he survives.  Together they shared the love of two sons Daniel S. (Diane Holland) of Liberty Twp., and Michael J. (Janice) of Ventura, CA; four grandchildren Ryan (Amanda) Machuzak, Christopher (fiancée Katie Peoples) Machuzak, Holly and Kelly Machuzak; and two great granddaughters Adalyn and Amelia Machuzak.  She is also survived by her sister Theresa Mneely of Florida; two sisters-in-laws Theresa Verbosky of Warren and Ann Verbosky and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Bernie was preceded in death by five brothers Joseph, John, Andrew “Andy”, Vince and Albert Verbosky.
